Champagne
Champagne wines, produced in the famous French region of the same name, are renowned for their exceptional quality and finesse. Champagne benefits from a unique terroir that combines limestone soils, a cool climate and varied topography. These characteristics enable the main grape varieties, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier, to flourish and develop distinct aromas and flavors.
Champagne is made using the traditional method, or méthode Champenoise, which involves a second fermentation in the bottle. This technique gives the wine its fine bubbles and aromatic complexity, marked by notes of brioche, citrus and sometimes dried fruit or white flowers.
The region is subdivided into several appellations, including Côte des Blancs, known for its pure, elegant Chardonnay; Montagne de Reims, famous for its powerful Pinot Noir; and Vallée de la Marne, where Pinot Meunier shines with its roundness.
